An Evening with Friends
A Parenting Workshop

Since 1998, the Family Enrichment Society has been conducting a parenting course titled, An Evening with Friends.

This course consists of four one-and-a-half hour sessions held fortnightly. About six to eight couples come together for the programme at the home of a host couple. In an informal atmosphere of friendship, couples, led by a facilitating couple, strive to improve their parenting skills, support one another and share and learn from the experiences of each other.

During each session, participants listen to an audio cassette by Dr James B. Stenson and discuss the issues raised. Snacks and refreshments are served thereafter.


The topics for each session are:

Session 2. Discipline & Leadership in the Family (Part II)
Session 3. Education & Media - Your Child's Education (Part I)
Session 4. Education & Media - Your Child's Education (Part II)

In 2000, this activity has been superseded by the Master in Family Education programme administered by the IEES. Courses are currently conducted by e-mail. Participants are provided with a systematic plan of studies, including study text and reference materials. Since its inaugural offering in Singapore last year, a total of 11 couples have signed for the programme.
